The Open Dove Children Foundation a Non – Governmental Organization ODOCEF on June 7th 2018 organized it’s annual programme for all Junior High School JHS graduates in the municipality with theme: Ebenezer praise 2018 – ‘transition from childhood to adulthood’.
The founder Rev. Joseph Amoako Ansah In an interview with Gateway radio news Christiana Ativi said children need to be guided, advice and counsel especially in their transition period, therefore, for four years now he has been organizing such programme for the JHS and SHS graduates the moment they finish writing their final paper. ‘Instead of allowing them to go to leavers jams and others, I choose to bring them together, invite counselors, educationists, and pastors to pray, advice and counsel them in other to know how to live their lives while awaiting the examination results’. He said.
In a speech delivered on behalf of Kpando Municipal Education Director by Mr Joshua Gbagdago the Human Resource Director of Kpando education directorate, transition from childhood to adulthood is a critical stage of human development during which children leave behind behavior and take up responsibility of adults, acquiring new roles and responsibilities. And changing from childhood is a period of physical, social, psychological and biological transitions. It is also a large extent a period that involved emotional challenges because of major decisions that needs to be taken at these period of the transition.
In his statement he said, the child at this level is said to be moving from dependent to independent status where major decisions will be taken to make life successful. Whether life of a person will be successful depends greatly on factors such as education, post secondary education, employment, independent leaving, economic self – sufficiency good religious system, etc therefore, to nature life of young people to become adults depends on how successful they grow through this periods of moving from childhood to adulthood. Base on all these people needs to be guided to go through transition period.
Mr Gbagbago, told the media that teenage pregnancy among BECE candidates before and after exams has over the years reduced in the Municipality base on girl child education and the help of Open Dove Children Foundation. He urged pastors, Imams, Chiefs and other opinion leaders in the country to follow this steps in other to reduce teenage pregnancy among girl child and other immoral life styles of our young boys.
A programme brought together more (1,500) children was sponsored by Indomie.
